You're late [13 May 2015|02:28pm]
[ mood | mting ]

Chapter 1: You're Late

Berlin, Germany, 1936.

Knocking at the bedroom door with the handle of his hairbrush, Ludwig tried in vain to wake his brother up.

"Come on Gilbert, you're going to be late for work again."

Gilbert lifted his head slightly off his pillow and momentarily stuck out his tongue towards the door, then retreating back under his pillow muffled,

"Nein, Sie können nicht mich machen. So gehen Sie weg!"

Ludwig continued to bang on the door,

"Sie sind dabei sich zu verspäten!"

Plotters and schemers

Meanwhile as the two men spoke with each other at great lengths, Elrond's thoughts turned to the young elf-maid. Now looking around the room he asked Erestor,

"When was everyone moved around and where is Vairë-Melian?"

Erestor looked at Elrond,

"About seven this morning. Some of the casualties where moved to the main house, while there rest were moved around making it easier to clean up. As for the girl, she's over by the west wall behind the curtain."

"Good thinking, she'll need a little privacy here until we can find her a room." Elrond replied.

"I'll see to it right away Master." Erestor bowed before leaving he added, "Lady Arwen had asked Haldir to sit with her."

"She did?" he questioned

"Yes, she had to go to stores, something about finding a proper sleeping gown. Should I ask him to leave?" Erestor answered back heading towards Haldir’s location.

Elrond shook his head,

"No, it's quite all right."

With that Erestor took leave to find suitable accommodations as Glorfindel noticed a smirk grow quickly across Elrond's face.

"You're thinking of something. What is it?"

"Oh, I'm fine. Still a little hung-over." His smirk grew into a large grin, "Just thinking.." When he noticed Haldir's brothers Orophin and Rúmil and Bilbo Baggins heading in his direction, "Even thought she was sent here for her well-being and safe keeping, Celeborn has offered to take Vairë-Melian along with he and Arwen when you all head back home." He looks towards the curtain then added, "Boys, how much does your brother go on about how much he loves a challenge?"

"Insensitively," Rúmil responded rolling his eyes. "Why do you ask milord?"

Elrond sat on a nearby chair,

"Well from what Calaldar explained to me last night about the young lady, it might prove interesting."

"How so Master?" Orophin questioned with a puzzled look.

Elrond looked at the Marchwarden then continued,

"Apparently the young lady has a bit of a temper and is very strong willed. And we all know stoic Haldir can be so let's just say it'll be interesting to see what happens."

An impish smile grew on Orophin's and Rúmil's faces when Gildor added,

"Elrond Peredhil that is wicked. Very wicked of you to say something like that about a poor defenceless Marchwarden."

Elrond stared at his friend,

"How so?"

"Because I along with our young Rúmil here, also spoken to Calaldar about the young lady." Gildor responded looking at the two Marchwardens who were now snickering, "and quite frankly I'd like to see what will happen."

"Yeah, Mister So-High-and-mighty will meet his match." Rúmil grinned

"Rúmil. Now how can you say that about your own brother? I thought you cared." Gandalf playfully questioned placing a hand on Orophin's shoulder

"Oh course I care about him, he is my brother but there's something about being brought down a peg or two by a woman that I just cannot pass up." Rúmil started when he noticed Orophin shaking his head,

"Don't you mean a hot-tempered woman?" Orophin smirked as he noticed the curtain move with Haldir's head poking through.

And So It Begins

Quietly sitting across from the entrance of the healing house, Celeborn deep in thought, tried to think of something to say the one man who was the last person to see his son. He would start off by muttering, "Calaldar.." then suddenly stop while wringing his hands together in frustration. A million things raced around his mind, trying to make sense of it all. To him it wasn't natural to fret over a simple meeting.

Unbeknown to him, he was no longer alone. Celeborn looking up saw Elrond along with Glorfindel and Gildor stand before him as he spoke,

"So it appears that the table has turned and I am in need of your council."

"That it does, but you won't be so hard to convince," Elrond smiled while still showing the effects of the previous evening's drinking, "Come now, he is waiting."

Glorfindel opened the door,

"After you."

As they entered the healing house, some near by servants politely bowed as the remainder kept working. Celeborn froze for a momentarily giving Elrond a quick glance before continuing on.

"Breath Cel, he don't need you passing out on us now." Gildor slightly patting Celeborn on the shoulder.

"Breath. Right." He looked back, "why am I so nervous? I don't recall ever being this nervous in my entire life."

Elrohir quickly remark while standing behind his grandfather,

"Well just think of how nervous you were when you asked for Grandmother's hand."

Celeborn replied,

"I never asked your great-grandfather for her hand. We just married, plain and simple."

"Then this will be the perfect way to stiffen your nerves for when you do reach Valinor, you can finally take that big step." Elladan added sneaking up on his grandfather.

Celeborn chuckled as he cupped the twins chins in his hands,

"Very cute you two." Looks at Elrond, "Definitely you are your mother's sons." He looks around again, "So where do I go now, since everyone has been moved around?"

Gandalf approaches the group,

"Calaldar is over at the far right wall next to the window." Points, "currently talking to Erestor."

He nods then heads towards Calaldar's direction.

"Ah, good morning milord." Erestor greeted, "Calaldar and I have been catching up a little," then turns to Calaldar, "I must take my leave, but I will return later."

"Thank you," Calaldar responded, "It was good to see you again, my friend."

Celeborn nodded again,

"Thank you Erestor."

Erestor made his way towards the group when Celeborn stood there motionless for a minute when Calaldar broke the silence,

"Please milord, sit awhile and talk."

A sigh of relief came across Celeborn's soul,

"Thank you."

Celeborn, than propped Calaldar up with an extra pillow. As they began talking they completely forgot about everyone in the room.

Precious Moments [30 Jan 2008|03:24am]

Chapter1: Precious Moments
Author: Melian (oathoffeanor@gmail.com)
Fandom: LOTR
Type: G
Pairing: Elrond, Celebrían, Elrohir/Elladan/Arwen (briefly mentioned)
Warnings: silliness
Summary: A quiet family moment along the Bruinen
Disclaimers: Not my Elves, I just get to play with them. Story is intended for enjoyment purposes only, no copyright infringement is intended.

Precious Moments

As the cool summer breeze danced across her feet, Celebrían started reminiscing about the different events in her life. Her marriage to Elrond. Life with her children, and the possibility of having another child. Then thoughts of uncertainties of the future, how a possible threat of the return of the Dark Lord Sauron, but as dark as these thoughts were she was not going to allow to darken her mood and spoil her precious memories with her family.

Straying a little from her thoughts, she had noticed that Elrond had finally joined the family by sitting quietly next to his children, and all the while staring at his wife. Celebrían slowly sank onto her blanket and drifted peacefully off to sleep as Arwen lightly hummed while picking flowers along the riverbank. Soon after she had gathered enough flowers Arwen, accompanied by her brothers, Elladan and Elrohir headed back towards the main house leaving their parents behind.

Unbeknownst to Celebrían, Elrond had crossed the river carrying a small bouquet the Arwen had left behind quietly stood over his sleeping wife. He looked at with a quiet awe, and proceeded to drop a petal on her nose. As the soft petals continually drifted gently on her face, Celebrían has opened her eyes and smiled sweetly. Elrond had helped her up off the ground, as she dusted her self off she took a few steps closer to her husband. Instead of giving him a kiss she stared deep into his eyes and realised that he was planning something but she wasn't sure exactly what it was.

Taking a hold of the few remaining flowers from Elrond's hand she returned to her tranquil thought, but that tranquillity was cut abruptly short when from out of the blue, Elrond had swept her off her feet and tossed her into the river. She couldn't believe what just happened and as she stood up she spotted Elrond on the riverbank trying to keep from laughing. At first Celebrían's reaction was to get upset over what had just happened but instead decided to turn the tables on him. She then stretched out her arm, he in turn reached out to grab her hand, but instead of taking his hand she pulled Elrond into the river with her. As he re-emerged to the surface she started to giggle,

"Well, well, well. I've just discovered a new species of sea life."

Elrond moving his hair from his face begins to look around,

"What do you mean my love?" he looks around again, "Where? I don't see anything."

"Right here silly." She answered

"Where?" he answered again

"Here" she points, "It's called the Elrondfish." Celebrían replied trying to keep from laughing.

Now looking oddly at Celebrían Elrond responded,

"My love, you are mistaken. There is no such fish"

Celebrían shook her head insistently as she carefully pulled out a small trout from his left pocket,

"Oh but I can prove it."

Gently placing his left hand onto her face he began,

Then Celebrían place her free hand gently over Elrond's lips, then lower his hand she carefully places the fish into his hands then says,

"See, here it is silly. What do you think of my discovery now?"

Elrond started laugh then released the trout back into the water. With a mischievous look on his face he then says to his wife,

"This just means that the next time I go fishing, I'm bringing you with me."

"But Elrond, you don't fish." Celebrían remarked, "Ooh" she then realised his true intentions reading into his sentence and then headed for the embankment.

As soon as she reached land, Elrond had decided that he'd given her enough of a head start then proceeded to follow his wife. Celebrían had made it past the clearing of rocks when Elrond had made his way out of the river, then grabbing her blanket that lay on the water's edge and proceeded to run. Every once in a while she would stop to take a breath and to see how far behind Elrond was. Celebrían then resume running only going so far until she thought he had given up his pursuit then asking,

"Are you tired milord?" getting a better grip of her blanket.

"Not in the least, milady." He smirked.

As Elrond headed toward his quarters, he stopped to check in on Elrohir, but he wasn't in his room so Elrond headed towards Elladan's room. Softly knocking on the door, he peered in to see them both fast asleep. Elrond knew that the twins were used to stressful situations and that little fazed them, but there was something very disturbing about the whole incident that threw Elrohir for a loop. He wanted, rather needed, the company of his elder twin. Elrond noticed that Elladan held his brother in the same gentle embrace as he once did when they were elflings, also remembering how he and Elros used to do the very same thing when they were small. His mind also started wandering back to all the terrible events that took their mother away from them many years ago, and wanting to make things better, but could not. Trying not to wake either son, he covered them both and watched them sleep for a few minutes before leaving. He headed down the corridor when a door opened up behind him and someone spoke, "Ada, is everything alright?"

"Arwen, my dear, you startled me." He replied, "Yes, I will be fine. How are you holding up?"

Arwen walked up to her father, wrapped her arms around his chest, and answered, "I am well. Though I am worried about Ro. He has taken this very hard."

"That he has, my dear," returning her hug. "Apparently it was the same place where he and Dan found Nana years ago." He notices a tear roll down her cheek and he wipes it away, "it will be alright."

"He told me about the girl he found. Ada, is she going to live?" Arwen asked, hugging her father tighter.

"Yes, she will survive. I have even learned her name." He smiled.

"What is it?" she sniffled, trying to keep from crying.

"Vairë-Melian. One of her travelling companions, the one who mistook for her, woke up and we spoke for a bit." Walking her back into her room, "Arwen," he paused, "I have something to ask of you, if you do not mind?"

"Certainly Ada, what is it?" she responded sitting on the edge of her bed.

"She is going to need some clothes and other stuff and I was wondering if you would like to help." He said, looking at her closet.

"I would love to, Ada," she beamed. "I will see what I can find in stores that might fit her. Naturally, it will have to wait until she is up and able to move about." Elrond then walked over to Arwen and gave her another hug when she asked, "Is that too shallow?"

"No my dear. It is actually quite thoughtful of you. I know that you and some of the handmaids have this little competition going on."

"You heard about that?" she swallowed, "Well, it is just for something to do. But it is starting to get old fast. I am glad you asked me to help."

He cocked an eyebrow,

"Hmm….yes. Well it would be nice if you include her in your activities, since she will be living here."

"Really?" she queried.

Elrond nodded, "Yes, Vairë-Melian is from the Elf-Haven and was sent here for her protection and well-being. Unfortunately, her trip did not go as planned." He kisses her on the forehead and continues, "Off to bed and get some rest. I will see you in the morning."

Arwen bid her father a goodnight and watched him leave her room. She climbed into bed than started to plan how she was going to be able to help out, but it didn't last long since she drifted off to sleep. Much welcomed newsCollapse )

Roaming the Woods of Lothlórien

It was a cool crisp November morning when Haldir was setting out on patrol when Celeblain snuck in with the rest of the guards. It was going somewhat according to her plans, being disguised as one of Haldir's archers. She wanted to see what was so secretive about this particular exercise. She did, however, remember a conversation with her guardian, Lord Celeborn on why Haldir always came back home cranky and irritable, but never really accepted his answer because he thought it best that Elf-maids needn't worry themselves over such things. Two days into training they met up with a nearby human settlement, who had decided to go along for a training exercise, when the sudden need to bathe overtook her. She started thinking to herself, "Why do men like that corn chip smell?"Come roam Lórien with me.Collapse )

A Brief Encounter

Elrond narrowed his eyes in concentration, examining the elf-maid's body for more possible wounds, as Elrohir soundlessly approached his father's side, carrying a fresh washcloth in his hand.

"No matter how hard I try to think of something else the same questions keep popping up over and over. Why do we have to deal with so much death, destruction and chaos? Not to mention worrying if someone we love survives another day?"

Elrond took the cloth, dipped it into the bowl of water next to him on a small, portable wooden table and quickly glanced at his son.

"To be honest with you, Ro, I just don't know." Frowning, he started to wipe off the layer of caked blood on her chest. "Those seem to be the questions we all want answered. I can tell you this, I will do everything in my power to try to keep her alive."

He looked closely at the small jagged scar on her right side. "Apparently this wound that you both exposed is recent but how recent, I won’t know until she wakes."

Bilbo, now slightly confused, got up from his chair and walked towards the young elf that had now awoken.

"Forgive me Elrond for interrupting you both, but would not that young man know something about her?" The Shire resident broke the silence, finally voicing the thoughts occupying his mind.

The elder elf turned towards the aged Hobbit. "No need to apologize my friend." He shifted his gaze to the elf lying on the small bed across the room, "That is a possibility my friend, hopefully we could also get some answers as to why these people were here in the first place."

Returning to the young maid, the elf lord tended to her wounds, seemingly ignoring the rest of the world around him. With a gentle handCollapse )

Celeborn and Glorfindel had reached the accident site as Elrohir and Gildor were carrying out a body. As they gently placed it next to the others Elrohir headed towards his grandfather. Gildor continued on with the rest of the search party.

"Grandfather, Glorfindel, there were at least thirty more people trapped inside, now only a few remain behind." He then looks around continuing, "I have been in many battles that were not as bad as this, but I have not seen this much carnage since…"

"Your mother," Glorfindel added.

Elrohir nodded his head solemnly as Celeborn placed his hand on his grandson's shoulder,

"It is all right my son. The important thing now is that we continue to rescue the survivors and retrieve the deceased to give them a proper burial. Come now."

As they approached the cave Glorfindel ran up to help Gildor, while Elrohir made sure that the survivors were secured well enough to travel west. Just as Celeborn was making the sure that the rest of the search party were doing the same for the dead an archer carrying the victim's weaponry walks up to him and says, "My Lord, all but one of the victims are accounted for, but we have a slight problem..."

"What do you mean? One person left inside and now you find a problem?" Celeborn scowled.

The archer nodded, "The lone survivor is trapped between two Orcs and the cave wall. So far he has been doing his best holding them back. Three other archers and myself have been trying feverishly to remove some of the loose stones so we can get a better shot at these fowl beasts and not injure the one left inside," the archer explained as they were heading inside the cave.

Once inside the cave Elrohir asked the archer, "How far down is this person?"

"Not much further, My Lord. We should be there momentarily," he replied, pointing to the men removing small pieces of rock. "Mind your feet."

As Celeborn, Elrohir, and the archer approached a pile of rocks they noticed that Glorfindel and Gildor were helping remove more stones when they heard a blood-curdling scream. Suddenly Elrohir, frozen with terror, holding onto a small boulder quietly whispered, "Oh Elbereth, please." he said out loud, "Ohtar, keep those rocks coming this way."

Then the voice inside muffled by the sounds of the falling rock as well as the muffled noises from the rescuers outside the enclosure, called out, "Now there is only one of you foul beasts left."

With that, the last stone was removed allowing some light to shine into the enclosed room, but just as the light started to flood in it allowed it to bounce off the blade causing the Orc to start hissing and be blinded by the light. As the beast regained its surroundings it was about to lunge for the lone survivor, who took the opportunity to swing at the Orc.

Shortly before the Orc had touched the ground, Celeborn had rushed in, and not completely sure that it was dead, drew his sword, and with one strike of his blade, he decapitated the beast. He then looked up at the lone survivor and said to himself, "Elrond? Can't be." then turned to the group, "I need someone quick." With that, the survivor fell into his arms.Seeing double?Collapse )

Mistaken Identity

The council seemed to be dragging on for an eternity with one boring speech followed by another and another, realising that enough had been said for the morn, Elrond suppressed a sigh of boredom as he rose to feet.

"Very well, if that is all of today's business then I would like to adjourn until our next meeting in four months. Hopefully we can try to implement everything we have discussed and accomplished here today in the given time."

"May the power of the Valar protect you," Elrond finished, sparing a glance over at the wizard Gandalf and the empty chair of his missing advisor.

The council members nodded in agreement, eager to take their leave, to return to their respective lands. After seeing the last member off, the elven lord headed towards the gardens unaware of the wizard trailing his footsteps.

"Elrond," Gandalf called out, after realising exactly where the elf was headed.

The elf spun around on his heels, startled out of his reverie by the wizard's booming voice.

"If you keep this up even a dwarf will be able to sneak up on you," Gandalf chuckled lightly as one eyebrow arched gracefully at his words.

"Forgive me Gandalf, there's just a lot on my mind" the elf replied honestly.

"You've been having those dreams again?" the wizard asked in a serious tone while propping against his wooden staff. A restless nightCollapse )

Right now I am so stressed that the least little thing has begun to annoy me. I'm not sure why that it is?

I have a list of things that need to be done but I'm not in the mood to deal with any of it. *bah!*

Anywhoo... I must do some house cleaning in my other journals. Either back it up or delete some of the entries. I know I have to clear out the notifications page on GJ (I never really realized how many people have commented in the last 3 weeks). I think I'll do that first. Yeah, I know that that's a bad sign but all I have to say is journalling is addictive. What's worse then the addiction? Wait! Don't answer that...

I dunno, maybe it's just that I need a place to call my own other then my main journals - not that I don't already call this place home. I had thought of making one of the other sites that I frequent as a fic site since I hardly know anyone there, but this site is closer to home. I know, I know....I already said 'home' twice already but let's face it - it is.
